Third draft of magazine advert

This is a quick idea that I had for my magazine advert. I created this by changing the opacity setting on the layer. I copied the original layer many times and then moved them across the page once I had changed the opacity. I like the images on this page but I don't like the writing. I played around with is a lot during the process and found that nothing would really make it stand out.

Filming in the urban location - 24/03/13

These photos were taken whilst I was filming in the urban a location in a run down area on the outskirts of town near the River Hull.

This shows me walking sideways trying to keep up with my brother who was walking alongside the wall singing along to Ed Sheeran. He had my iPod in his pocket so it was close enough for him to hear the music he had to sing in time with.

This image is the same as the one above except I was walking in a slightly more forward position.

Filming from the front with my brother walking towards me. I had to walk backwards to get these shots.

A close up of me shooting on a very cold and windy day in a rundown area of Hull.

This location is what seemed to be an old car park that people had vandalised. I used this in a positive way and this is the location that we shot my brother getting angry kicking the wall and sliding down the wall to end up with his head in his hands.

Filming in Bridlington - 24/03/13

Below are some photographs of me and my brother filming in Bridlington on Sunday 24th March

This photo shows me and my brother on the beach as I am filming the pan around his face

This is the same shot as the one above except I have walked further around the back of him so the focus of the shot is on the sea.

This is Chris looking very cold as I had asked him to star into the camera for a close up shot with the sea in the background.

This is Chris walking up the ramp back to the car in Brid. I didn't know if I would be able to use this shot in my video but I filmed it just in case I could find a use for it.

This is me using the wall to keep the camera steady as I filmed Chris walking out to sea on his own, the shot after I fade out.

Here I am filming my brother walking along the waters edge so that the sea is in the background.

This is the same shot as the photograph above.

Filming Chris starring out to sea moodily, reflecting on his life.

Production plan - 24/03/13

This day of filming was the busiest and the most important. Because of the lack of time I had left before the deadline I had to make sure that all of these shots went well and I wouldn't have to go back and re-shoot them.

The weather on this day was very challenging. There was an extremely cold wind which was very strong and we kept having to go back to the car to warm up. I think the effects of the temperature can be seen in the performance in the video on this day.

Overall I got a lot of filming done and was very happy!

Second drafts of album advert for magazine

Once I was happy with the image I had chosen for this ancillary text and the position I had it in, I then played around with the text a lot.

In the above draft I decided to change the colour of the release date. I got this idea from the adverts I had already looked at and saw that this was a common feature of the adverts. On this draft I put the text on the album cover in the centre of the case and I really like the way this looks.

On this draft I have made the release date a lot larger than it was to make it stand out more. The album text on this draft is further to the side but the title of the album is still central to the name of the artist. I'm not sure I like this approach on the album cover.

This cover looks a bit weird. I definitely don't like the text on the album cover. I think the line it creates and the placing of this line is strange and it doesn't make the text look part of the image. I definitely think the central text looks the best.

Production plan for the Easter holidays

I have a lot of catching up to do over the holidays because of the time I have been off college ill and having to redo my video. Below is my planning of what I need to do and in some cases when I am going to do it.

First draft of album advert for magazine

After looking at this advert again, there are a few things that I know I need to change.
  1. The release date of the album. The 4th is a Thursday but in the UK albums are usually released on a Monday so they have a better chance of reaching the top spot in the chart by the Sunday.
  2. I need to research the institution Chris Mallette could be signed to and put their logo on the advert so everybody knows who they are dealing with.
  3. I need to advertise where people will be able to buy the album from with a link of a logo
  4. I don't like the font of the text at the bottom of the page. I think I need to change it to something that is bolder and more block lettering.
  5. I want to play around with the image I have used and see if it looks better in a different format.
  6. The release date needs to stand out more whether that means changing the colour of it or making it larger I will need to see.

Production plan - 16/03/13

On this day I decided that I would get all of the filming I had left to do in the house done. At this point in the filmin process I was recording a lot of still shots. When I got these shots onto the editing suite though, the audience feedback that I got suggested that I should have some performance shots in an urban area or on a beach. This is what I ended up doing.

Filming at the Humber Bridge

These photos are of me filming my brother at Hessle Foreshore near the Humber Bridge. I also took some still photos for my ancillary texts here.

Chris sitting on the bench with his guitar while he writes a song. The Humber Bridge was in the background of the shot.

Filming him sat on the edge of the beach writing more music.

Same as the image above. I recorded this shot in a long shot and a close up.

The three images above of Chris leant against the tree are images of me taking still photographs for my ancillary texts. I thought the backdrop of the river and the bridge would be nice and something that nobody else from across the country would be able to use.

Making social networking sites

Facebook

The first step I took to making a Facebook page was signing in to my account and clicking on the 'Make a page' option. I then selected to make a music page for a band/artsist as you can see in the picture above.

I then created the name of my artist 'Chris Mallette'

I had to submit the details of Chris Mallette into Facebook so the process could be finished.

I then added a photo of Chris to the page using the uploader which was very easy.

This is the Facebook page just after I had created it.

I then posted the link to the page on my own Facebook account and some of my friends then went on to 'like' the page for me.

Twitter

This is how you sign up to Twitter. You go to the hompage and click on 'Sign Up' which then takes
you to this page. You then have to fill in your details.

I then shared the link to the Twitte pahe through my own Twitter account.
