Filming day 3 in my living room - Brief

 

After college on Tuesday a few of my friends came round to my house along with Hannah to film the shots of them decorating a Christmas tree. This is a video of me briefing the girls about what I want them to do before they started their work. 

Schedule for filming on day 3 - Christmas and baking

This schedule was a lot harder to stick to because we got back to my house a bit later than expected and it took longer to get in costume and sort the lighting out too but once we'd started filming everything went to plan and I think it was successful, especially the baking section of the night. I personally found it a lot more difficult to film Hannah decorating the tree because of the position of the other girls and I maybe should have choreographed the scene a bit more but this is something I can learn from and if I have to film certain parts of this again I appreciate that.

 

 

 

Filming day 2 at the Humber Bridge - Filming photos

 

These shots are of the far side of the Humber bridge from Hessle foreshore without any zoom on the camera and the reflection of the sun in the Humber

Filming day 2 at the Humber Bridge - Location

This is another shot that I haven't included in my storyboard but I thought of it as an after shot that I decided to go out and shoot on a sunny day while I have the chance and it was also a day that Hannah was at work so I couldn't film her. I thought it was a good way to use my time and a great shot that I can include if I want to. The day that I shot this was a very windy day which means some of the shots I took I had to film a few times as the wind was blowing my hand and I couldn't keep my steadicam very well. It was a very interesting morning filming.

Filming day 1 in Hannah's bedroom - Location

This is the second location we shot in on day 1 of filming. I chose to shoot some of my video in Hannah's bedroom because it is a location she is comfortable in which might make it a bit more natural to shoot in there and also because she knows where things are and how she would normally act when she's in there. I think it is a good location for shots such as reading her book, getting ready to go out and practicing her lines. The mise-en-scene is great in there because it is full of things she does, photos, clothing etc. The only bad thing about her room is the lighting. It is quite a big room and there is only one light in the middle and one small window at the end of it. I am aware that this could affect the shot quite badly and I may need to re-shoot parts of the shot when I am able to get my hands on a spare spotlight. The main issue was the light coming from the window being too bright behind her and silhouetting her but it was definitely too dark if we shut the curtains so I had to work with what we had.

Filming day 1 in Hornsea - Location

The first shot I decided to film was the shot that goes with the lyric "I wanna leave my footprints on the sands of time". I decided to film this shot first because of the time of year and the weather will just get worse from now on and I wanted half decent weather. The day we chose to shoot on was forecast to be a bright sunny day but typically the sun came out properly once we had got in the car and we were leaving the beach. It was also a good day to shoot because my dad had a day off and was able to transport us to Hornsea to film.

I chose this end of the Hornsea beach to film on because the other end has groynes breaking the beach up into sections to protect it from the sea. I didn't think these were very attractive and the other end of the beach was a lot quieter too. It was the best place to film this shot.
